Celebrating 20 years of Jigsaw: A spotlight on Jigsaw Camden

Jigsaw Camden opened its doors in 2002 and as we’re currently celebrating 20 years of Jigsaw, we thought we would give you a glimpse into Saturday mornings in Camden 13 years down the line…

Tahra is currently in her fourth term of managing Jigsaw Camden. She is one of our managers who began Jigsaw life as a student, who then attended Youth Theatre, progressed to be an assistant, and she now teaches, manages and works as part of the head office team.

Here is a little insight into life at Jigsaw Camden…

 

Who are the teachers?

Jack is our Performing Arts teacher. Jack is a graduate of Paul McCartney’s LIPA where he received a degree in Acting. Jack has appeared on TV, film and Radio as well as leading roles in National Tours and West-end Theatre.

Terri is our Singing Teacher. Terri trained in Acting at Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and in Musical Theatre at The Royal Academy of Music in London. She has a variety of teaching experience from babies to young adults and from amateur to professional.

Jake is our dance teacher. Jake trained at the London Studio Centre and graduated with a BA Hons in 2013. Since graduating Jake has performed in Rapunzel at the Towngate Theatre and most recently has been dancing on P&O Australia’s Pacific Jewel. Now back in London Jake is excited to be joining the Jigsaw Arts team!

 

Which student has been around the longest? Why do they love Jigsaw?

Bella and Ruby who have both been at Jigsaw Camden for 12 years. They say that “it’s a great way to see friends and we do great dances, songs and drama pieces!”

 

How many new students do you have this term?  What do they think about Jigsaw?

We have 4 new students in our main school. Shenyne said “My friend told me about it and it’s really fun”

 

Who are the youngest and oldest students?

Our youngest students are 3 years old and our eldest pupil Shahel is 16 years old.

 

What makes Jigsaw Camden special?

We are a small school so we are able to give every student plenty of attention and produce great shows.

 

What’s happening this term?

We have lots of exciting things planned at Jigsaw Camden this term including ‘Bring a friend’, ‘Bring a parent’, ‘We will rock you’ workshops and teacher swap.

 

Any success stories?

The latest exciting piece of news is that Otto in the 7-8 years, his mum is in the TV show Ladykillers – female pest controllers. Very brave!

 

What’s the funniest thing that has happened at Jigsaw Camden?

When Bella scared Tahra and Tahra dropped all the water everywhere!
