Jigsaw Summer Schools

Jigsaw Summer Schools are an affordable way to keep your children occupied in the holidays. They are designed to provide enjoyable and stimulating performing arts activities for students. Students are divided into appropriate age groups and take part in drama, dance and singing classes. Each week has a theme which will form the basis for the show on Friday. Family and friends will be invited to watch.

3 - 5 years

The two hour sessions are full of fun packed, exciting performing arts activities based around the theme for the week. They offer a taster of the full day programme and the week leads to a mini performance. Perfect for building confidence, making new friends and keeping your child busy during the school holidays.

6 - 16 years

Each day will begin with a physical and vocal warm up with the choreographer and musical director. Students will then work in smaller groups taking classes in script, improvisation and vocal work as well as jazz dance and singing technique. Later in the week the show is pieced together and students will be given a rehearsal schedule. On Friday we will add sound and lighting to the production for a technical and dress rehearsal in preparation for the performance that afternoon.

Our Teachers

The summer schools are led by exciting and experienced performing arts teachers who also teach regularly at our weekend schools. The teachers have attended Jigsaw Arts training and have a DBS check. Many of our teachers also work professionally in the performing arts industry.

What do children need to bring?

  • A packed Lunch that doesn't need refrigeration. Lunches will be stored in a cool dry place but refrigerators are not available. We recommend you use an ice pack.
  • Plenty of water to keep hydrated.
  • Students should wear clothes and shoes appropriate for movement and dance.

The Show

Shows take place on Fridays and all friends and family are invited. Jigsaw devises shows around the theme to ensure that all children are included. It is important to us that all children feel they have contributed to the final performance.

  • I just want to say how much my daughter enjoyed the Jigsaw summer school. She has never been before but was made very welcome by all the other children and teachers. She was full of enthusiasm and excitement as the day of the performance drew nearer. I was most impressed with the show. I loved the fact that all the children had so much to do and were all word perfect. All in all it was great!!
