Paddington Bear goes on an unexpected adventure
Eight-year-old Millie from Jigsaw Watford impressed us all with her creativity when she came up with an original fundraising idea… with Paddington Bear.
Millie’s father, Martyn, told Jigsaw this inspiring story:
“Millie, my eight-year-old daughter, asked me to purchase two extra Paddington Bears. When I asked her why she told me that she wanted to raise money for two charities. Watford General Hospital baby unit and Great Ormond Street Hospital were her chosen charities.
Watford General Hospital held a charity event in December and Millie raised £200.
The photo above is Millie handing over the Paddington bear to the nurses.
My wife and I celebrated our 25th Wedding anniversary on 3rd February and Millie asked to raffle the other Paddington bear on the night.
Millie raised at the time £214. However, Millie goes to Jigsaw, a performing arts and drama club and when they saw what she had done they contributed as well. Along with another donation she now has £260.”
We are all extremely proud of Millie for this wonderful gesture and the effort that she has made to raise money for two very important causes. We hope that Millie has a fantastic rest of the term at Jigsaw Watford!
