What makes Show Term at Jigsaw Harpenden so FUN?

At Jigsaw Performing Arts Schools, our students (aged 3-18) often look forward to ‘Show Term!’ So, what does this entail and why is it so fun? Show term at Jigsaw Harpenden will be a super exciting time of the year where students get to work on creating a full show filled with singing, dance and drama. Students work super hard with their fun and dynamic teachers to rehearse their show throughout the term, building confidence and memorising all of their lines, dances and songs, before performing in front of a live audience at the end of the term.
DANCE:
During show term, our teachers tend to pick super high energy and upbeat dance numbers that the kids often know and can sing along to. Using material that is upbeat, and popular really helps to get the adrenaline pumping! All that jumping and moving around to their favourite tunes is so much fun for the kids, and they always have the hugest smiles on their faces during their dance performances.
SINGING:
Show term often means multitasking, a great concentration and focus skill that our students at Jigsaw Harpenden learn from rehearsing their shows. During their singing classes in show term, our students must also story tell through using skills learnt in drama such as facial expressions. They also have set staging which combines their skills learnt in dance. Children absolutely thrive off of the challenge that ‘show term’ singing brings as they find so much joy and fun in combining all disciplines into one.
DRAMA:
Of course, with Drama comes learning lines and becoming a character. But one of the most exciting and fun things about ‘show term’ is the costumes to help you become that character. Our students love dressing up for the shows! They also get to perform with amazing backdrops to help transport everyone into the world of the show! It doesn’t stop there… The kids also get the opportunity to perform with colourful lighting and sometimes even on a big stage!
