Spotlight on Sophie! Drama teacher for students aged 7+ at Jigsaw Crouch End.
Sophie! You’ve just finished teaching your first term at Jigsaw Crouch End as Drama Teacher to the 7-18 year old students – how was it? What have been your highlights?
It was such a fun term! I really enjoyed teaching the students and watching their confidence grow over the 11 weeks. My highlight would have to be the presentation to family and friends on the last day of term. The students really shone. They performed brilliantly – with tons of energy, great projection and character. All the work we did during the term really came together. I felt so proud of them!
You previously worked at Jigsaw Crouch End some years ago with our 3-6 year old students, what have you been up to since then?
Before teaching the drama classes in Crouch End, I worked with the 3-6 years students. I then went on tour in Germany for a year, performing English shows in German schools with a company of actors. We performed a range of shows from pantomimes about vampires, to Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen!
Where did you do your acting training?
I trained at Mountview!
What 3 words would you use to describe a brilliant Jigsaw drama teacher?
Flexible, compassionate, motivated.
And what’s your favourite game to play in the drama classes?
It’s gotta be ‘Yeehaw’. It’s great fun!
What would you say to someone thinking of starting their Jigsaw journey?
Book in a two-week trial with Jigsaw! It’s such a great way for children to develop their confidence as well as their performance skills. I’ve seen so many children really come out of their shell and turn into incredible performers and young people at Jigsaw!
