‘Matilda’ Workshop, led by Elliot Harper, and ex ‘Miss Trunchbull’ from the hit West End Show was an incredible experience for the students at Jigsaw Stevenage!
The eldest students at Jigsaw stevenage enjoyed a theatrical day of learning from West End expert Elliot Harper! We caught up with the wonderfully talented student, Harry Starr who has given us an insight into the workshop…
Harry Starr’s students perspective –
“I recently had an amazing experience participating in a Matilda the Musical themed Workshop led by Elliot Harper. Known for his exceptional portrayal of Miss Agatha Trunchbull in the West End and UK Tour Run of Matilda the Musical, Elliot brought an incredible level of energy and insight to Jigsaw Stevenage that made the workshop unforgettable.
The focus was mainly on enhancing our understanding of our characters and refining our performance techniques. I was particularly excited when he directed special attention to me playing Miss Trunchbull in Jigsaw Stevenage’s take on the musical that we named “The Revolt at Crunchem Hall” during our Show Term.
Elliot’s guidance was detailed and very inspiring. He shared valuable tips on how to effectively convey Miss Trunchbull’s authoritative presence and tone. What I enjoyed the most was when we sang through ‘When I Grow Up’ (a song from Matilda the Musical) during the singing part of the workshop, I played accompanying piano alongside Elliot’s guitar and the rest of the students vocals.”
