An amazing opportunity in Les Misérables for eight-year-old Stevenage student, Lily Mae
Last week, we announced the exciting news that Jigsaw Stevenage’s Lily Mae has been cast in a major West End musical.
After a successful agency workshop day earlier this year, Lily Mae impressed the Jigsaw Arts Management team which resulted in some exciting auditions. Lily Mae shone and everybody at Jigsaw was delighted to discover that she has been cast in Les Misérables, London’s longest running musical.
Based on the Victor Hugo novel, set in early 19th-century France, Les Misérables is the story of French peasant Jean Valjean and his search for redemption after being imprisoned for stealing a loaf of bread for his starving nephew. The English version of the musical opened on the West End in 1985!
Following the exciting news, we caught up with Lily Mae before her weekend drama, singing and dance classes:
How long have you been a student at Jigsaw?
I have been at Jigsaw for almost six years now and I am really enjoying everything we are doing.
Dance, drama or singing… which one is your favourite?
If I had to choose, it would be singing.
How do you feel about performing in the West End?
I feel really excited but nervous at the same time. But it is an amazing opportunity in the first place.
