Things to look forward to in 2021

2020 has been hard for many people. However, as the song goes, the sun will come out tomorrow… Here’s what we’re looking forward to in the new year!
Things to look forward to in 2021
Theatre will be back
It’s been stop-start with the theatre in 2020 (although the huge number of shows made available at home has helped!), but we’re already making lists of what we want to see in 2021.
We can look forward to existing favourites like Wicked, Mamma Mia!, and The Lion King which are all set to return, but 2021 will also see premieres from the likes of Pretty Woman The Musical, Cinderella, Singin’ In The Rain, Moulin Rouge, Sister Act, and Frozen The Musical. Plenty to make up for this year!
Eurovision
One of the highlights of our year and always fun to talk about, the often outlandish international music competition was, like most live music, sadly cancelled in 2020.
Organisers have committed to the 2021 contest going ahead, with a few alternative plans they can deploy depending how things are when it rolls around in May. We can’t wait, even if, dare we say it, the UK’s entries aren’t always the most exciting… Maybe we’ll see the debut of a new superstar like ABBA or Céline Dion?
Mars landing
For space fans, make sure you’re tuned into NASA’s YouTube channel on the 18th February when they will be streaming the Perseverance rover’s landing on the red planet.
In partnership with ESA (the European Space Agency), the rover’s mission is to “seek signs of ancient life and collect samples of rock and regolith (broken rock and soil) for possible return to Earth”. This is potentially the first time samples will be brought back from Mars to Earth, so expect plenty of new discoveries!
Find out more on NASA’s site.
Friends reunion
After tons of speculation and a delay from this year, it seems the cast of Friends really are reuniting in 2021! We can look forward to the main cast from the perennially popular sitcom will be sitting down together for the first time to reminisce about the show and their experiences.
Exact release date and how to watch from the UK aren’t clear just yet, but we’ll definitely be keeping our eyes out.
Being back at Jigsaw
Above all, this is what we’re looking forward to the most! Like our students, Jigsaw is our favourite part of the week, and we can’t wait to share the joy of dance, singing and drama with all of you once again.
In the meantime, make sure you have joined the Facebook group for your Jigsaw school, where Jigsaw at Home videos are available that will keep you acting, dancing and singing into 2021!
