Christmas Films for all the Family!

November is here! The nights are getting longer, the temperature has dropped, and Christmas is less than two months away! But what are we all going to do with ourselves until the festivities begin? Never fear! If anything brings the family together it’s a good old-fashioned movie night. We’ve curated a list of the latest new releases, as well as some Christmas classics to keep young and old alike entertained in the lead up to the holiday season. 

Mary Poppins Returns

Set in 1935 London, 25 years after the events of the original film, it sees Mary Poppins, the former nanny of Jane and Michael Banks, returning after a family tragedy. With all the mystery and magic of the original this promises to more than a simple re-imagining. UK release 21st December 2018. 

Spider-man: Into the spider verse

Spider-Man mentors a teenager from Brooklyn, N.Y. to become the next web-slinging superhero. Your spider senses will be tingling as they cross parallel dimensions and team up with the Spider-Men of those dimensions to stop a threat to all reality. UK release 14th December 2018. 

Ralph Breaks the internet: Wreck it Ralph 2

Ralph and Vanellope embark on an adventure inside the internet to find a spare part to fix the Sugar Rush video game. Hold on to your connection cables because you are in for a rollercoaster of a ride, and one thing’s for sure – the internet will never be the same again! UK release date 21is November 2018. 

The Grinch

Benedict Cumberbatch lends his voice to the new adaptation of Dr Seuss's classic How The Grinch Stole Christmas. This new animation sees The Grinch attempting to ruin Christmas with the help of his trusty dog Max. Will he succeed? Find out in cinemas from 9th of November 2018. 

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms

A stellar cast featuring Morgan Freeman, Keira Knightly and Mackenzie Foy is lined up for Disney’s latest offering! Young Clara needs a magical, one-of-a-kind key to unlock a box that contains a priceless gift. But on her way to obtaining that key she discovers a whole new world. With the help of a soldier called Philip, Clara must travel to the 4th realm to retrieve the key and restore harmony to an unstable land. UK release 2nd Novemeber 2018.

If the cinema isn’t your thing we’ve compiled a list of our all-time favourite Christmas films. The perfect way to kick back and relax in the lead up to the holidays! 

Nativity

A primary school teacher, who was once a failed actor in a former career, is given the task of directing the school's Nativity play, which doesn't have a positive track record. Attitudes change however, when it transpires that a Hollywood producer is coming to film the play. 

Muppets Christmas Carol

Michael Caine play’s Ebenezer Scrooge in this Muppets re-imagining of the classic Dickens tale. With appearances from Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie Bear and Sam the Eagle this Christmas Carol will leave full of heart and song, whist reminding what the true spirit of Christmas is all about. 

Elf

On Christmas Eve 1973, a baby boy (Buddy) crawls into Santa Claus's sack at an orphanage and is unwittingly transported back to the North Pole. Growing up in the North Pole Buddy is unable to shake the feeling that he doesn’t quite fit in, so he travels to New York in search of his real father… 

Frozen

We simply couldn’t let this one go! When their kingdom becomes trapped in perpetual winter, fearless Anna joins forces with mountaineer Kristoff and his reindeer sidekick to find Anna's sister, Snow Queen Elsa, and break her icy spell. Can they save the kingdom from the grip of winter? 

It’s a Wonderful Life

Every time a bell rings an angel gets its wings. Need we say anymore? A Christmas classic. 

Home Alone

When 8-year-old Kevin McCallister acts out the night before a family trip to Paris, his mother makes him sleep in the attic. After the McCallisters mistakenly leave for the airport without Kevin, he awakens to an empty house and assumes his wish to have no family has come true. In this hilarious tale, it’s a case of be careful what you wish for as Kevin discovers he must protect the family home from two con men who attempt to rob the McCallister home!
